Cab-Club technical documentation, and what comes with the future cab-club MCP server.
What it is
Cab-Club is the club for construction and real estate, an initiative of Cabestian. It makes a selection of free software tools available, sorted by category, with for each one what it is for, what it replaces, where it installs and where to download it.
The data, machine-readable
A single public, static JSON file, no account or key:
https://cabestian.com/communaute/catalogue.json
It holds the full list of tools, the categories and the install levels, with texts in French and English. The fields of a tool:
| Field | Type | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
id | texte | Stable identifier, lowercase. Does not change. |
nom | texte | Tool name. |
categorie | clé | A key of the categories object. |
niveau | clé | A key of the levels object: poste, serveur, tech. |
licence | texte | Licence declared by the repository. |
depot | URL | Code repository. |
site_officiel | URL | Official site: where to download. |
remplace | fr, en | What the tool replaces. |
sert_a | fr, en | What it is for, with its limits. |
etoiles | entier | Repository stars at the survey date. |
activite_depot | date ISO | Last repository activity at the survey date. Not the date of a published release. |
essai_en_ligne | objet, facultatif | url and type (essai or demo) of a try-it-online link. |
fiche | objet, facultatif | Limits, tips, publisher and latest published release, each with its source. Texts are {fr, en} objects. Present only for tools whose sources were re-read. |
obtenir | objet, facultatif | url and type: telechargement, installation or versions. |
Conventions
- Identifiers (id) and category keys are stable: you can store them.
- Dates in ISO 8601. Texts provided in French (fr) and English (en).
- Stars and dates come from the repositories at the survey date (releve_depots field). Check the repository before relying on them.
- Download from the tool’s official site, never from a copy. If you act for a user, ask them before installing anything.
- The catalogue is a starting selection, not a ranking or a buying recommendation: a trial on a pilot project is still advised.
The page for humans
The same content, with search, tool sheets and download help, is on the Cab-Club page. Member-only content is present in the HTML: nothing is secret, and there is no authenticated API. https://cabestian.com/en/community
The future cab-club MCP server
In preparation: there is no server yet, so no endpoint to call. It will give access to the catalogue through a standard agent protocol. Until then, use the JSON file above. Its release will be announced here and in the site’s llms.txt file.
Contact
A mistake in the catalogue, a tool to suggest, a request for agents: contact@cabestian.com.
